I am passionate about science education. Having just recently completed my MScBMC at the University of Toronto, My Master's Research Project involved creating an interactive kiosk for the Royal Ontario Museum that will educate museum-goers on paleontological practices in the laboratory. In the summer of 2014, I completed an internship at the Smithsonian Science Education Center as a scientific illustrator/communicator. While there, I was able to participate in many projects including being the sole illustrator of Expedition: Insects, an interactive children's book that follows the Next Generation Science Standards.
As a child, my fondest memories were of family trips to the Ontario Science Centre and I still have just as much fun, if not more, going there now as an adult. This passion for both the arts and sciences and the symbiotic relationship they share is something that has followed me throughout my life. I grew up revering artistic Masters like Da Vinci, a Renaissance Man who truly understood the great importance of scientific study, the creation of beautiful artwork, and the strong connection between them.
I was the first to graduate from the University of Windsor with a B.Sc. honours in chemistry and visual arts. During this time I worked on the designing of a dinosaur dig at Canada's South Science City, curated Exposure to Science, a group art exhibit that brought together two communities on campus that didn’t often interact, and in my last year I completed my thesis on Raman spectroscopic analysis of pigments used in works of art.
